Lubricants
The function of any lubricant is to reduce friction between two objects that rub against each other. Originally, lubricants were conceived as an item to improve the quality of sexual relations, especially for women who have difficulty producing it naturally, which translates into discomfort and pain during intercourse. But the benefits of using artificial lubricants aren't limited to intercourse: they're almost indispensable when practicing varieties of sexual acts like Greek and highly recommended for any type of masturbation.
There are several types of lubricants. Below, we list the most important ones along with their fundamental characteristics:
Water-based lubricants with glycerin: Compatible with latex condoms. They're very easy to clean and come in different textures and even flavors. Their main drawback is that glycerin can cause irritation in some women.
Water-based lubricants without glycerin: Similar to the previous ones but with the advantage that they don't cause irritation and are best suited for more sensitive women. Their downside is that they dry out very quickly.
Water-based lubricants (natural): Made from natural ingredients. Like the others, they are compatible with latex, although they also dry quickly and can cause irritation in some women.
Oil-based lubricants: Petroleum jelly, baby oil, massage oil, etc., belong to this group. They are cheap and easy to find, but their composition makes them incompatible with latex condoms. They are difficult to wash off and can cause vaginal infections, which is why their use is not recommended for intercourse.
Silicone-based lubricants: Compatible with latex and their effects last a long time. They can be potentially dangerous if absorbed by the body, so it's important to follow all hygiene measures recommended by their manufacturers.
A final tip: lubricant comes out of its container at room temperature (as expected), so before applying it to the desired area, it's advisable to let it sit on your fingertips for a few moments. This way, you minimize the uncomfortable temperature contrast between the lubricant and the application area.
