Valentine's Day Special
It's often said that a good dinner can win anyone's heart, and it's a perfect occasion to share an intimate moment, enjoy a good conversation, and savor each other's company.
On Valentine's Day, we can surprise our partner with a menu prepared by ourselves. To make everything perfect, every detail must be taken care of. Creating a romantic atmosphere to accompany the dinner is essential. Don't hesitate to decorate the table with petals, candles, flowers, hearts, a beautiful tablecloth, etc. Music is another must-have; on our website, you'll find a great list of romantic songs in both Spanish and English. You can burn a CD that will then serve as a keepsake of the dinner.
Now, let's get to the menu. We suggest a starter, a main course, and a dessert:
Stuffed Avocados:
Ingredients: 1 avocado, corn, 6 or 7 peeled and cooked shrimp, lettuce, mayonnaise, 1 stick of crab surimi.
First, cut the avocados in half and scoop them out. Keep the shell. Mash the avocado flesh well with a fork in a bowl. Next, finely chop the lettuce, shrimp, and crab surimi. Mix everything with the avocado and mayonnaise, add the corn. Finally, fill the avocado shells with this mixture and decorate: either with corn, a shrimp, or tomato...
Tenderloin Skewers.
The main ingredient is pork tenderloin, a very tasty and juicy meat, although you can choose another meat or even fish. When buying the tenderloin, let your butcher know it's for skewers, so they'll cut it into small cubes.
You'll also need some vegetables like cherry tomatoes, green pepper, zucchini, mushrooms... cooking is very creative and personal, any combination of vegetables can work.
Don't forget the salt and oil.
While preparing the skewers, heat the grill with just a few drops of oil. Thread alternating pieces of meat and vegetables onto the skewer, playing with colors to make the dish look beautiful.
The meat pieces can be wrapped in bacon, but that's a matter of taste, although it does add an extra dose of flavor.
Once the skewers are ready, place them on the grill, and they'll be done in 10 minutes.
Easy, simple, and delicious!
Chocolate-covered Strawberries with Custard:
Ingredients: 8 strawberries, 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds, and 50 g of chocolate for melting. For the custard: ¼ l of milk, 2 egg yolks, 2 tablespoons of sugar, a bit of vanilla bean.
First, for those who don't dare to make custard from scratch, you can buy the powdered version, although it's not that difficult!
Heat the milk (reserving a portion). Add the sugar and vanilla bean. Put the egg yolks in a bowl, pour in the rest of the milk, and mix very well. Add a bit of the hot milk and keep mixing. When everything looks homogeneous, pour it back into the pot. It's very important not to let it boil! Keep stirring in the pot until it thickens a bit.
Wash the strawberries in water and then cut off the green stem to prevent water from getting inside and affecting the flavor. Melt the chocolate and spread it on a flat, wide dish, dip the strawberries in the chocolate, sprinkle them with a bit of sesame to harden the chocolate.
Cover the bottom of the tray where you'll serve them with the custard, place the strawberries, and decorate the plate by drawing with chocolate over the custard, for example, some hearts!
